According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector grew by 7.1% in 2024, contributing to the province’s 6.6% economic expansion.

In his message, Aumentado lauded the resilience of Bohol’s farmers and fisherfolk, underscoring the success of initiatives like Suhid in empowering stakeholders and driving the sector forward. Vice Governor Tita Baja echoed these sentiments, highlighting the synergy between agriculture and tourism. Baja stressed the importance of ensuring food security and sustainable agriculture while urging the youth to embrace farming as a profession to sustain Bohol’s agricultural legacy.

Bohol’s agricultural landscapes not only bolster its economic foundation but also reflect the province’s commitment to environmental conservation as a UNESCO Global Geopark. Programs like Suhid align with the Geopark’s mission to promote biodiversity, cultural heritage, and sustainable development.

Through initiatives such as climate-smart agriculture, food security programs, and farmer training, the PGBh reaffirms its goal of building a “smart, resilient, and inclusive” province, capable of adapting to climate change and other global challenges.

The event concluded with a strong call to action for all Boholanos to support and celebrate the agriculture sector. The Suhid awards underscored the essential role of farmers and fisherfolk in shaping a sustainable and prosperous future for Bohol.
